Summer Inspiration Session Behind The Scenes

Education, Styled Session

July 23, 2018

One of our favorite parts of our job as photographers is bringing a vision to life. Most of the time that vision is our bride’s as they chose all of their details for their wedding day, and it’s our job to make sure that what they’ve picked out is translates into beautiful photographs. Sometimes it’s hard for brides to figure out where to start when it comes to picking out an overall theme for their day let alone how to gather little tiny details that make the day even more special, which is why we love to design styled sessions. We create them to inspire our brides to think a little outside of the box when it comes to details for their day, and as a bonus, we get to plan and photograph mini weddings!

This styled session is Charleston-inspired, which doesn’t surprise you if you’ve been following us for very long. Charleston is our home away from home! We adore the southern charm, colorful buildings, and historic nature of the city. To match that, we raided my (Chelsea) grandmother’s china cabinet to find her antique dishes. We also used my great-grandmother’s lace and some vintage stamps for an antique feel.

We typically start planning our styled sessions a few months in advance so we have time to shop around and pick out everything we may need. We also try to re-use some items so we aren’t constantly having to buy everything at once. The pink Mrs.Box, for example, was also used in our Winter Styled Session, here.

We have a blast picking out flowers, linens, invitations, and other details that tell the story we’ve dreamed up! Check out the full Charleston-Inspired Styled Session by clicking here.
