Is there a city that always pops up in your dreams? A place your mind drifts to when you’re sitting at your desk at work, and you picture yourself walking down the streets of this perfect place on the most perfect day drinking your favorite iced drink while wearing your favorite dress.

We have our dream city in common. Charleston, South Carolina. We visited for the first time in 2015, and I promise there’s at least one moment each and every day that I swear I can almost hear my high heels clicking down the cobblestone streets surrounded by colorful homes clothed in Spanish Moss.

When we were discussing what we wanted the theme of our next styled session to be, we easily drifted toward having a Charleston-inspired design. We soured my grandmothers cabinets to find all of the southern, vintage jewelry and dishes we could find, which was pretty easy considering I believe she has kept every dish she has owned in the past 80 years! Using the heirlooms of my grandmothers fit perfectly with the Charleston theme because we believe the city exudes Southern charm and legacy. So, in the photos below you will see some of my family heirlooms styled as if they were details of a wedding day. I hope it can inspire you to scour your own grandmother’s cabinets when you are planning your own wedding. Not everything has to be bought new. You know the old saying, you need “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.”
