3 Getting Ready Tips To Make Your Timeline Run Smoothly

Wedding Tips

No matter how much you plan for your wedding day it is important to know that not everything will go as planned. I know mine didn’t.

On my wedding day, I was two hours late to my venue because I got stuck in major traffic when a semi-truck caught fire on the interstate! (You just can’t plan for certain things) But there are some things you can do that will make the day much easier and smoother. Chelsea and I have been to so many weddings in the past two years that we’ve picked up on a few tricks to minimize tasks that can throw off your timeline.

On of the most common reasons a timeline gets thrown off is due to hair and make-up taking too long.

The getting ready process takes up the most time on a wedding day and if you don’t plan for it properly, then 9 times out of 10 it will cause you to get behind. We always tell our brides to add an extra hour to however long they think it will take them and their bridesmaids to get ready.

Plus, we firmly believe the getting ready process should take the longest.

It should be fun and give you time to hang out with your best friends. You shouldn’t have to stress about hair and makeup or getting to the ceremony location in time. You should plan enough time in the morning to not only get your hair and makeup done but also play music, dance, eat yummy food, and drink champagne!

Aside from adding extra hours for getting ready, we have a few tips that also play an important role to making getting ready for your wedding stress free. Here are a few more tips!

01. Steam your dress and veil the night before.

The less you have to worry about the better! It takes some time to steam the dress and veil, and if you can have it done the night before the wedding then you will be so much happier for it!

02. Have your hair and makeup stylist come to your venue.

The less traveling you have to do on your wedding day the better! (Trust me, when I say this). I know from experience. You can’t plan for traffic conditions, especially when you have so much do to at your venue already!

03. Have your details in a box waiting for your photographer the morning of your wedding day.

Our favorite part of the wedding day is the getting ready process. We love photographing the little details that you carefully picked out. If you have everything set to the side (invitations, rings and ring boxes, dresses, flowers, perfume bottle, jewelry, etc.) then we can get started right away and won’t have to spend precious time hunting down for the details.
