Hannah’s Wedding: Chelsea’s Perspective

Personal

August 11, 2017

Imagine that your best friend asks you to photograph the biggest day of her life. Oh and guess what? The wedding is 2 weeks away! <insert wide-eyed emoji here>

Yep. I was super nervous, but I couldn’t say no.

I’d been shooting portrait photography for about 6 months when Hannah asked me to photograph her wedding, and I was TERRIFIED that I was going to mess up her wedding photos!

Her wedding day was crazy! First of all, I’d helped her move into her new apartment with JP the day before, so we were tired. Secondly, there was a chemical spill on the interstate that stood in between us and the wedding venue. Isn’t there another way to get there, you ask. Of course, but because we live in a rural part of Tennessee, the second route was long, extremely wind-y, and void of cell phone service.

The drive that should have taken me 30 minutes ended up taking me 2 hours!!! Not to mention I also acted as the florist so I had a car FULL of flowers!

Lord, I was just praying that I was going to make it there before all of the flowers wilted, and fortunately, I did.

I helped decorate the charming church venue, and the day ended up being absolutely beautiful. I know I’m probably biased because Hannah and her husband are two of my best friends, but their wedding was the sweetest wedding I’ve been to! (And I’ve been to a LOT of weddings!) I felt so blessed to be a part of such a special day in my best friend’s life.

At the beginning of my photography career, I dreamed that I would do wedding photography someday, but it felt so scary and far away. I honestly don’t know if I would have ever had the courage to take the leap of faith if Hannah hadn’t trusted me to photograph her wedding. That was just a year ago and now I’m about to photograph my sixth wedding and already have more booked!

Life is crazy sometimes, and in this particular instance, it’s crazy good.
