Our Fears About Starting A Photography Business

Personal

September 1, 2017

As you know, both Chelsea and I have stated over and over again how much we love photography. We feel like this is our calling, and we desperately want to become business owners. However, we do have some reservations. If I’m being honest, I’m scared. As much as I feel like this is what I’m meant to do, I’m afraid.

The biggest fear we both have with starting a photography business is that we will fail. We are afraid that we won’t make it, and everyone who has told us “No” or “There is no money in photography” will be right. We are afraid of being stuck in our 8-5 jobs.

We are also afraid of the legal side of things. We are afraid of making mistakes that could impact us financially. Taxes and contracts are frightening and are a whole other field that we know nothing about.

Lastly, we are afraid of rejection. Who are we to teach photography, life ideals, and give brides wedding tips? I didn’t go to school for photography. I (Hannah) went to school for business and Chelsea has a nursing degree. I (Hannah) was always the introverted girl at school. I had a few friends and was always afraid to speak up in class or give my opinion at the lunch table, yet somehow, I have mustered enough confidence to be a business owner? I have doubts like any other person. I am often my worst critique.

We all have fears. However, despite all of these fears, I am determined to keep pushing forward.
