The One on Dream Chasing

Personal

October 29, 2018

They are funny things, dreams. We start having them when we are little kids. Before we even know what they are. We dream our way through school and find ourselves in college. We dream of the big things we have in store for our lives.

We hope. We pray. We plan.

Sometimes people tell us our dream stinks or it isn’t “achievable.”  Sometimes we look around at others and wonder if we’re dreaming big enough or deep enough or dreaming the right dreams at all.

We second guess. We wonder. We give up.

And then… we find inspiration. Watch that great film, listen to that rockin’ soundtrack, or read that incredible novel. And we’re on track again. Striving ahead into the world. Ready for whatever life throws at us.

It’s a cycle, dreaming…

And I don’t think it ever ends.

I hope all of you get to a place in your life where you turn around and wonder how you got to where you are. I hope you are so happy. I hope you fulfill all that you’ve dreamt of and so much more.

I’ll tell you, Hannah and I are in the midst of the cycle. We know what we want and sometimes we feel like we’re right on track while other times we feel so far away.

But in an interview with Oprah, Kevin Hart, of all people, reminded me that life and dreams are like a big circle and the ones who make it are patient enough for everything to circle back around. They don’t give up. They dig and dig until they find some light at the end of the tunnel.

So keep digging, my friends. Keep doing things that inspire you to keep moving. Because I know there is enough in this world for us all to reach those heights we’ve dreamed of for as long as we can remember.
