One thing we know for sure is that your wedding day is going to fly by so we put together a list of 5 must do things on your wedding day!
Set aside a few minutes to be alone.
Your wedding day is going to go by fast and you are going to be surrounded by other people the entire day. If you’re an introvert like me, you may need some time to yourself to process what’s happening. Maybe wake up an hour early and have some quiet time while you drink your coffee, or maybe you can put your headphones on and go for a walk, or even sit down an read your Bible for a few minutes. Anything you can do to center yourself is good because although the day itself can be hectic, you do have to be.
Write one another a letter you will read on your one year anniversary.
Many people choose to write letters to one another to read on their wedding day, but what if you wrote your husband or wife a letter on your wedding day that they then read on your first anniversary. Whether that first year is the best year of your life or if you go through some hard times, I’ll bet it would feel good to read some sweet words from your spouse written on the day you promised to spend your lives together.
Spend a few minutes alone together during the day.
Although one of the best parts of a wedding is getting to celebrate with your friends and family, the actual wedding is for YOU, the bride and groom. Make sure to spend a few moments together without other people lining up to talk to you. Some couples opt to do a first look and then spend a few minutes alone after that. Others sneak away right after the ceremony or even eat a quick dinner together before going into the reception.
Take a step back at your reception and watch all of your friends and family having fun and celebrating you!
Remember to grab one another during the dance party and go to the corner of the room to watch all of your friends and family celebrate you! Again, this day goes by so fast. You want to be able to take a moment to burn the image into your mind. Of course your wedding photos will help you remember, but there’s nothing like a mental picture you take along with the sound of the music, the smell of the cake, and the feeling of your new spouse’s hand in yours that can last you a lifetime.
Go somewhere in your wedding attire after your wedding!
I mean, you only get that dressed up once, you might as well show it off! Go to your favorite fast food restaurant for a milkshake after your grand exit (Sonic is typically our spot of choice). Get out of the car and show off that gorgeous wedding dress! Some couples even take their wedding party to their favorite bar or venue! (We live in Nashville, after all.) Whatever you do, it will be such a fun memory!
I hope this has given you a few ideas to add into your wedding day. It’s going to be a special day regardless, but adding in these five things will make it even better!
Happy wedding planning!
