There isn’t a lot that we can control during a ceremony to make it picture perfect, which is ok because the vows you are promising one another are beautiful on their own. However, there are a few things you can keep in mind that makes a photographer’s job a little easier.
Walk slow.
We know you’ll be nervous walking in high heels in front of all of your guests, but this is your time to shine. We are willing to bet it’s important to you to have a photo of your dad (or special someone) walking you down the aisle. It can be hard for us to get a variety of these shots when you walk really fast. This also applies when you are walking back down the aisle with your new husband. Walk slow and take it all in! You’ll be glad you did!
Remind your bridesmaids and groomsmen to stand close together while at the alter.
It’s much easier to get a photo of everyone when they aren’t all spread out across the front. Also, remind them to smile! When you’re in a wedding, you could get your photo taken at any time! Your bridal party will be so excited to be there so they will love it when they look genuinely excited in your gallery of photos!
Practice the flow of the entire ceremony at your rehearsal dinner!
This may sound like a given, but you want to make sure everyone knows exactly what to do and where to go because most people get nervous in front a crowd of people. Those nerves can show up in pictures! You want everyone in your wedding party to be at ease and excited to be at your ceremony not worried they are going to walk down the aisle at the wrong moment! Practice makes perfect!
Consider an Unplugged Ceremony.
Ask your guests to politely turn their phones on silent and allow us to be the only photographers. Although Aunt so and so is super excited about her new iPhone, her well meant iPhone photo-op can end up in your first kiss photo!
Your ceremony is going to be so sweet and special no matter what it looks like through our lens, but we hope these tips might help you take your ceremony photos to the next level!
