We were sitting in Hannah’s car, palms sweaty, butterflies in our bellies, wondering how in the world the accountant we were about to meet would take us seriously. Although we knew we wanted to get “too legit to quit,” we didn’t know how in the world we were going to get there, but guess what we learned…

What you don’t know, just ask.

It’s really that simple. We had been debating on getting advice from someone for months and months because we were too afraid to sound stupid, but once we finally made ourselves walk into that office, we were SO relieved. We came out of the meeting with actual action steps that we could take today to move our business forward, and we also created a future plan once we’ve reached our short term goals. We drove away feeling inspired and overwhelmed but mostly just excited to get to work! Talk about a successful meeting! 

The moral of this story– do the things that scare you. If you want to do something as crazy as start a business with your best friend, you can, but you have to be willing to ask the hard, sometimes stupid questions. You have to be willing to put yourself out on the ledge. As Jenna Kutcher, one of our favorite leaders in photography, says: 

“If you don’t believe in your mission enough to invest in yourself, how can you expect others to invest in you?”
