Finding Your Why

Knowing your why is really important when it comes to entrepreneurship, or really just life in general. For Hannah and I, the reason why we want to build and run this photography business is not just because we want to take pretty pictures that is part of it, of course, but not the whole reason…

We also wanted to start this business because we want to be able to create our own work/life balance. In our opinion, and many of yours, I assume, being on someone else’s schedule is not fun. We want the ability to create our own schedule to ensure that we are proud of the hard work that we put into our business while also having healthy time away from our business for family time and rest.

When we are having a hard day, we try to remind each other of our shared vision to keep us motivated.

We really encourage you to find your why. If you are going to start a new venture or even dive deeper into the job you have now, if you can find your why and remind yourself of it daily, we believe you are going to be so much more motivated to forge ahead even in the rough seasons.

The stronger the why that you have you are going to be more likely to take the risks needed to grow your career into even bigger heights.

It’s helpful to even write down your why in detail so you can refer back to it.

Here’s our why broken down:

1. Being able to work together as best friends

2. Ability to use our creativity on a daily basis

3. Giving our clients high quality images and heirloom albums that current and future generations can keep forever

4. Being able to have a greater work/life balance

Don’t be afraid to ask yourself the hard questions. Life is too short to be in a job that you hate. It’s extremely important to find meaning in the many hours we spend at this thing we call work.

Keep hustling, y’all!
